Miniature Gaming to make a comeback? So much in the gaming forecast!

Its been a while since the last post, mainly because I am in a holding pattern with gaming. Dogs in the Vineyard mini campaign has drawn to a close, and that game really helped our group stretch its RP muscles. Now we are playing Marvel Heroic Roleplay by Margret Weis productions. This game bears mainly similarities to Dogs, however the differences really help to accentuate the feel that the systems are trying to acheive. Where a dice pool in Dogs drives the entire conflict, in Marvel each pool is rolled for just a small snippet of the action. The heroes are really powerful and can take and give a lot of punishment. It really does feel Heroic! In Dogs, attempting to be too heroic or badass and going to guns means taking fallout where there is a pretty good chance your character is going to die.
Warhammer 40K has got our group buzzing about picking up minis and a tape measure again. The 6th edition rules set seems to be very good, with some flavorful twists and realistic additions. Overall the impression is that GW did a good job, so I am looking forward to my first battle report here. My Blood Pact and Eldar are going to be dusted off and finally recieve some TLC.
Also, the whole world (I'm certain of at this point) is aware of the massively successful Bones kickstarter that Reaper minitures put on. I have always been a fan of many of this company's products, and I am looking forward to documenting here painting up my collection when it arrives. I have for many years dreamt of having an extensive range of fantasy minatures for use in DnD games or really to display as symbols of the hobby. This kickstarter promised to fill my shelves with affordable and beautifully sculpted minis, and I could not help but be swept in.
Finally, after Marvel wraps up what appears to be a very short run, it looks like I will finally run some Dark Heresy. I am going to do my best to keep it fun and really capture the grim darkness of the far future. Maybe if I can get it together enough, I can put together an Obsidian Portal page. Time will tell.
